No matter where I am, I would likely rather be "Here". This painting is a product of my realism background marrying a bit of the surreal world I have been slowly creating over time. I had no idea where it was going to end up but I am delighted by the movement and color and detail that poured out into it.
I have touched this canvas in all capacities over so many hours. See it's the first canvas of this size that I stretched on the frame and actually the finished painting is the second rendition. The first go at a sunset can be seen on the back of the finished piece so technically I stretched this canvas (and painted on it) twice. Unfortunately, in the process of re-stretching the painted canvas, the corner gave a small split. I did my very best to retouch that spot and glue the rip so it will not run. I am not a fragile person, well, I mean I am not fragile with my own things so it doesn't bother me that my work isn't "perfect" either. I love all things handmade and find the imperfections quite charming-especially when there is a story to accompany it.
