Khristy was born into an adventurous family as the third daughter of a lighthouse keeper and sky goddess who supported her desperate need to create with much enthusiasm. She fell in love with darkroom photography in exactly tenth grade and declared it as her major three years later at the University of Colorado. The following year the art building was demolished and while the world was going digital (it was 2007 after all) Khristy learned to paint her pictures. She ended up graduating from the highly competitive BFA program in 2009. Instead of going back to southern California, she (sights unseen) packed up her Volkswagen and headed north west to Seattle. Khristy has been in the area for over 15 years now and lived in everything from studios to tug boats to trailers creating “painting corners” in every space. Currently Khristy lives on Orcas Island, a small rock on the Canadian border where she has a side business doing custom pet portraits and paints large scale nature scapes of the natural beauty that surrounds.
